Official meeting distribution:
This means that a direct payment was made to meeting organizers so that one copy of the CD would be placed in the registration materials of all scientific attendees and organizers of such meetings.

The following is a listing of all such meetings where official distribution was affected that way: SCANNING 2001 Meeting, May 5-8, 2001, New York; E- MAS Meeting, May 8-10, 2001, Tampere, Finland; Russian Electron Microscopy Society, Chernogolovka (Moscow); Israeli Microscopy Society Meeting, May 15, 2001, Haifa; Chesapeake Society for Microscopy Annual Meeting, May 23, 2001, NIH, Bethesda, MD; Microscopical Society of Canada (MSC), June 6-8, 2001, Fredericton, NB; SCANDEM 01, June 13-15, 2001, Stockholm.

In addition, there were other meetings where the CD's were given out from the exhibit booths (stands). Such meetings included Fall MRS Meeting, November, 2000, Boston; and PITTCON 2001, March 5-8, 2001, New Orleans.

In addition, each shipment from SPI Supplies that contained "obviously microscopy supplies" also received a copy of the CD as a "box stuffer" with their shipment. We consider this to be a highly efficient way of getting something into someone's laboratory. SPI Supplies ships from 50-100 individual parcels per day, and we estimate that about 60% of those shipments did receive a copy of the CD.

So philosophically, we try to emphasize distribution in those parts of the world where the on-line use of the internet, is still at very low levels. Hence, this permits a participating firm, for example, to develop a strong internet brand name even before the internet is being widely used in certain markets. We believe the impact in North America can also be significant but at a lesser amount than outside North America.
